An entire town up for auction, we could have a nice little Libertarian community.

How 'bout it guys?
I'll chip in.

I wonder how much it will go for? What's our offer?

Anybody in the area to submit our bid?
youmightbearedneck
No takers huh?
OK, guess I'll just have to call it Andyville or something.
Any of you guys multi-millionaires & willing to make a large, low interest, unsecured loan? laugh.gif laugh.gif

Not enough rain there. I like it kinda swampy.

I will wait for Fannie and Freddie to fail. Then we can pick up a nicer place just before some other country buys it out. laugh.gif They will be as common as sand by that time.

No oceans, salt marshes or cedar swamps. Who'd want to live there? Probably no mosquitos or Lyme ticks either. What would you do for fun?
LastStand
that place looks like a set for a cheap horror flick.

Sold for 1.55 million. What a bargain!
Another missed opportunity.

Not much rain, but it had water:

Included in the auction are all the assets of the city, which include its water rights for 460 acre-feet of daily potable water usage. This amounts to 150,000,000 gallons per year from its three Artisan wells. As the only source of potable water for nearly 20 miles, this asset is truly significant...

What have we learned from this? Always listen to Andy... laugh.gif

Eh, less than 50 miles from Texas...no thanks.

Texans are icky.

Too bad it isn't Nevada, else we could have legalized whoring and gambling.

My dad just bought 5.3 acres in Weed, NM. And boy is it off the beaten path. Beautiful place, too. Elk and mule deer everywhere. Surrounded on three sides by Lincoln national forest. Good neighbors a few hundred yards in each direction. The kind of folks who moved there to disappear off the grid. He has spent this week fixing up the guttering on the cabin that is on the place so he can start filling up the cistern. He's going to have a well dug in the next few weeks, too. His plan is to move there when his parents pass away, and that is hopefully a long way off. But this place will also be our destination if everything goes to hell.
